Business and education breakfast Wednesday, Jan. 18 at TEC-SMART

 

The Clean Technologies & Sustainable Industries Early College High School, a NYS Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) Program, will host a Business and Education Breakfast focusing on Innovation Hubs and Partnerships on Wednesday, Jan. 18 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Following the business program, current 11th and 12th grade students will showcase their solar, micro housing and smart growth projects from 9 to 10 a.m.

Area business leaders, partners, workforce stakeholders, civic leaders, students, teachers, school counselors and administrators all are invited for a complimentary breakfast and a discussion focusing on connecting and growing our entrepreneurship ecosystem and building talent through innovation hubs and partnerships. Panelists will share their vision for a strong entrepreneurship system focusing on the opportunities of the future for our region.

The panel includes Donald DeVito, president and COO, Kirsh Helmets; Jason Kuruzovich, director of the Severino Center for Technological Entrepreneurship, The Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Tom Nardacci, CEO founder, Troy Innovation Garage, and Maria Pidgeon, associate director, Innovation Hot Spot, University at Albany.

Launched in the 2011-2012 school year by the Ballston Spa Central School District, in collaboration with NYSERDA and Hudson Valley Community College, the program provides current high school students with opportunities to develop college and career readiness skills and pursue college coursework. The program currently enrolls over 275 students from 25 school districts located throughout the region.
