Student Awards Ceremony
May 2, 2024 at 2 p.m.
At the recent ceremony, Ricky Thibodeau, chairman of the Department of Business and Criminal Justice, honored each award recipient individually with a framed award. Students invited family members to the event, and several faculty and Dean Tyler Kessel also were part of the capacity audience.

UHY Advisors Accounting Certificate Award
Award shall be given to a first-year student who is pursuing an accounting certificate at Hudson Valley Community College and has maintained a GPA of 3.75.
Recipient: Amber Mohamed
UHY Advisors Accounting AAS Award
Award will be given to a first-year student who is pursuing an associate in applied science degree, has maintained a GPA of 3.75, and is planning to transfer to a four-year institution ultimately to become a Certified Public Accountant. Consideration will be given to those students engaged in leadership, extracurricular or club activities.

Highest GPA in Animal Law and Ethics (CRJS 134)
Recipients: Lindsey Waters (Fall 2023) & Addison Grudecki (Spring 2024)
Donald Gilbert Award for Excellence in Criminal Justice
Awarded to a graduating student enrolled in the criminal justice program with plans to transfer to a four-year college or university. Students are nominated by the criminal justice faculty and must demonstrate a promising future and potential to evoke change in the community.
Recipient: Evan Boyer Vejvoda
Luther Memorial Award
Awarded to a graduating Criminal Justice senior who plans to pursue a career in law enforcement and maintains high academic standings.
Recipients: Jake Hartman and Zoe Vallee
