Campus Climate Survey Action Plan

The results of the Campus Climate Survey, which was administered in October 2021, appear in today’s Campus Chronicle. In direct response to these results, the President’s Team is committed to the following priority initiatives which can be addressed this year:

  • Hold Town Hall meetings with the President for both general and specific populations. The first Town Hall meeting was held on Feb. 8, 2022.
  • Hold “Coffee with the President” sessions for both general and specific populations.
  • Hold an Open Forum to demonstrate and discuss the move to D2L.
  • Install locks on classroom doors.
  • Investigate gym membership and weight loss program discounts for employees.
  • Provide tuition waivers for Community Ed courses. President Ramsammy has approved restoration; timing to be determined.
  • Restore funding of Personnel Resources Committee. President Ramsammy has approved restoration of funding for fiscal/academic year 2022/2023.
  • Restore funding for tuition reimbursement. President Ramsammy has approved restoration of funding for fiscal/academic year 2022/2023.
  • Restore Sabbatical Leaves. President Ramsammy has approved restoration; applications will be accepted in January 2023 for the 2023/2024 academic year.
  • Bring back Meritorious Service Awards and Pinning Ceremony.
  • Develop a remote work policy.
  • Conduct a statewide community college salary review.
  • Hold Appreciation Days for employees.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of campus — both inside and outside of buildings.
  • Provide leadership training through CPE.
  • Explain the current structure of senior staff.
  • Hold regular labor/management meetings.
  • Sponsor an HVCC “Day of Service” to give back to our community.
  • Create criteria for merit increases.
  • Publish a revised vacancy protocol. This was distributed to supervisors last week.
  • Bring back the “get to know the department” items in the Chronicle.
  • Publish a report from the Board of Trustees’ meetings in the Chronicle.
  • Continue to take the necessary steps to recruit and retain faculty and staff from underrepresented groups.

In addition, several comments to the survey identified information which needed to be better communicated to the campus community. To address this need, stay tuned to The Chronicle for future “Did You Know?” articles!
