The Bulmer Telecommunications Center meeting rooms will be the site this afternoon for a press conference as KeyBank announces a grant of $75,000 to Troy-based AlbanyCanCode. The funds will support further development of AlbanyCanCode’s employer engagement program and training initiatives.
The campus community is invited to attend the conference, which will begin at 2:30 p.m.
The college was asked to host the press conference because AlbanyCanCode recently announced a new partnership with the college’s Workforce Development Institute, which will offer a course in automated testing in 2018.
In its first 18 months, AlbanyCanCode launched workforce training and K12 programs designed to grow the region’s pipeline of tech talent. In 2017, more than 200 adult students applied for acceptance into AlbanyCanCode’s training program. Nine graduates are currently working in technical positions, with far higher earnings than before they started the course.
“We are very excited about our partnership with AlbanyCanCode and look forward to strengthening our workforce development presence within the community,” said Dr. MaryAnn Janosik, interim vice president for academic affairs.
