Campus Corner: Veterans Resource and Outreach Center

Editor’s note: The Campus Corner, which appeared in the Chronicle throughout 2018 and 2019, is back! The monthly feature focuses on one department, providing an opportunity for the campus community to learn more about the college, its services and its talented employees, according to Karen Paquette, executive director of Human Resources.

Veterans Resource and Outreach Center (VET-ROC)

The mission of the Veterans Resource and Outreach Center is to provide non-clinical support for veterans suffering from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and/or TBI (traumatic brain injury) through the PFC Dwyer Peer Support Program. The center also provides a one-stop shop for all things related to veterans’ affairs on campus.

Center Coordinator Dan Wargo and Stephen Onley, peer mentor, provide veterans a space where they can feel comfortable and regain the feeling of camaraderie they experienced while serving in the military.

Dan and Stephen encourage all faculty, staff, students to spread the word and to visit VET-ROC to learn more about how we all can help our veterans succeed at Hudson Valley Community College and throughout the community!
