The Academic Advising Certificate program began in fall of 2009 and was created to provide academic advisors with the resources and opportunities necessary to improve their craft.
Hudson Valley Community College considers Academic Advisors to be critical to fulfilling the college’s mission of providing “dynamic, student-centered, comprehensive and accessible educational opportunities that address the diverse needs of the community.”
To earn a certificate, participants must complete six hours of training through courses from each of three topic areas — Foundations of Advising, Advising Special Groups, and Advising Tools and Resources — for a total of 18 hours.
The CET is proud to announce the very first recipients of this certificate. Please join us in congratulating Diane Teutschman, Advising Specialist in the Teacher Preparation Department and Bob Taylor, Academic Advisor in the School of Business Advising Center for their hard work and dedication to academic advisement at HVCC!
Diane and Bob will be formally recognized for their achievement at the 2012 Faculty and Staff Honors Convocation.
