Why SCI? The college’s Department of Biology, Chemistry and Physics announces some revisions and additions to the Science Center Speaker series for this month.
This free series is designed for students, faculty and staff to hear about real-life opportunities and applications of coursework undertaken at Hudson Valley Community College. All speakers will begin at 2:15 p.m. in SCI 145:
- Monday, April 11 — no speaker
- Monday, April 18 — Dr. John Tine, director of the Molecular Biology Facility at the Cancer Research Center, will present information about UAlbany’s BS degree in Bioinstrumentation that is designed to accept students from our BIO & BSC programs.
- Thursday, April 21 — Eric Powell, associate director of QA Microbiology at Regeneron, will focus on Quality Assurance and Quality Control in industry, regulations in the US and abroad, as well as his career path from college to now.
- Monday, April 25 — The SI Group will provide information about its Schenectady-based company with nin locations around the world. They offer summer internships in many career paths.
- Thursday, April 28 — Ben Binga, manager of Biotech Production at Regeneron, will discuss what bioprocessing is and how Microbiology fits into it.
- Monday, May 9 — the topic will be Cell and Molecular Biology with a speaker from Regeneron.
