City of Troy seeks input on its Downtown Revitalization Initiative

The City of Troy seeks public input on how it should spend $10 million awarded under New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative. Governor Kathy Hochul announced award recipients in the DRI’s fifth funding round in November 2021. Troy’s DRI Local Planning Committee is co-chaired by Mayor Patrick Madden and HVCC President Roger Ramsammy.

In addition, the City of Troy has issued an open call for eligible proposals for privately-sponsored DRI projects.

As co-chairs, Mayor Madden and President Ramsammy will lead Troy’s DRI process working with the Local Planning Committee, an advisory group comprised of 18 residents, businesses, property owners, local organizations and other stakeholders in the city.

Troy’s DRI will focus on the Riverwalk District, which includes the heart of Downtown Troy’s Historic District. The area is compact and walkable, contains a large portion of the city’s arts, cultural, and entertainment assets, and includes 1.6 miles of unified riverfront. With significant recent investment, including market-rate and affordable housing, new commercial space, and trail and public space improvements, Troy aims to leverage private investment to create new mixed-use space, increase public-gathering space, and address parking issues in order to utilize its public spaces and urban amenities to connect residents and visitors to the city’s destination riverfront.
