College leaders will travel to Israel next week at the invitation of officials from Holon Institute of Technology (HIT) to explore partnership opportunities between Hudson Valley and HIT.
HIT offers a wide array of programs ranging from industrial design to visual communication design, to specialized programs in engineering, science and technology. A variety of exchange programs, multi-disciplinary research collaborations, articulation agreements, and workforce training initiatives are just some of the topics of interest.
President Roger Ramsammy, Board Chairman Neil Kelleher, Vice President for External Affairs and Government Relations Regina LaGatta and Dean of STEM Jonathan Ashdown will represent the college in discussions at HIT, and also during meetings with leaders of Darca Schools, an Israeli organization committed to providing equal educational opportunities for youth and teens in Israel’s underserved periphery. Darca Schools is a potential partner for the college’s Global High School program which aims to connect international high schoolers to college-level study at Hudson Valley. The delegation will also have meetings with representatives of Ariel University, Israel’s newest research university, the Jerusalem YMCA and at Stratasys, a global leader in 3D printing and additive manufacturing solutions, materials and services.
Israeli institutions are on the forefront of innovation in several areas relevant to Hudson Valley’s future-focused programs that are planned to be housed within the college’s Applied Technology Education Center (ATEC), including Electric and Autonomous Vehicles, Hacking and Cybersecurity. Cultivating solid relationships with Israeli universities and industry is timely and vital as we work toward the implementation of ATEC to ensure that our programs are well aligned with emerging industry needs and as we seek funding for the project.
More information on these meetings and a summary of the college’s recent efforts to expand its international outreach will be shared during the Fall 2022 All College Meeting.
