The Troy community is invited to -Working Together for A Better Future,- an educational block party co-sponsored by Hudson Valley Community College and the Troy NAACP.
The event will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, at 5th Avenue between 102nd and 103rd streets. Workshops on educational resources and building stronger relationships between the community and law enforcement will be offered. Refreshments will be provided by Price Chopper.
The event also will include representatives and activities from The Arts Center of the Capital Region; the Albany Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Fidelis Care and Cancer Services Program; Glenmont Job Corps; National Stuttering Association; North Lansingburgh Neighborhood Watch; Schools of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany; and the Uptown Initiative, among other organizations.
-We want to let the Troy community know the kind of educational resources that are available to them, and we also are showing some community spirit by bringing together various support services and other groups to meet with the community,- said Richard E. Bennett III, associate dean of the college.
