Please join us in congratulating Casey L. Ryan.
Casey is an instructor in the Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, and Public Administration department and has received the Teaching and Learning Certification of Completion.
Casey has been at Hudson Valley Community College for nine years and has stayed active with the Center for Effective Teaching and Faculty Workshop Day professional development opportunities during that time. Casey is the co-advisor for the Criminal Justice and Forensic Science club, a member of the Academic Senate, and the co-chair of the Educational Policy & Standards Committee.
Casey developed a new honors Introduction to Criminal Justice course with Chairperson Ann Geisendorfer, utilizing an Open Educational Resource (OER) text. Casey is an active member of the American Society of Criminology, presenting research on juvenile sexting policies at the annual meeting each November. This spring, Casey taught Correctional Services using an OER text she authored. Her participation in reentry work at the Suffolk County House of Corrections helped inform the focus of the text, which focuses on the experiences of people who are punished by the correctional system, as well as those who work in the system.
Congratulations, Casey!
