Congratulations, Dr. Geehan!

Dr. Margaret Geehan recently announced her retirement after more than 25 years of service to the college. Today (June 5) is her last day.

Margaret’s tenure saw her making progressively upward appointments beginning as an adjunct instructor and ending as Dean of Institutional Assessment. Prior positions include Dean, Schools of Health Sciences and Liberal Arts and Sciences, Technical Assistant, School of Business, and Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Margaret has served as an Academic Senator and has been on many committees, including Curriculum Committee, Planning Committee (co-chair), Strategic Plan Steering Committee, General Education Committee, Enrollment Committee, and Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness Committee (chair).

Margaret was our Accreditation Liaison Officer with Middle States and most recently, served as co-chair for our self study. In 2013, she was the recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.

Throughout her career, Margaret always maintained a singular focus for our students’ successes in academics and beyond. She has been a mentor to numerous HVCC employees, imparting the wisdom of her education and experience to many.
