In addition to college-wide efforts, all students, faculty and staff are asked to continue their efforts to protect themselves and prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses.
Protective measures recommended by the NYS Health Department include:
- Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before you eat.
- Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoiding close contact with people who are sick. Keep a distance of at least 6 feet to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
- Covering your cough and sneezes with a tissue, and discard it in a closed container.
- Cleaning frequently touched surfaces and objects.
Employees remaining on campus are asked to use the disinfecting wipes provided in their spaces to disinfect personal work areas and frequently touched surfaces in shared spaces such as: service counters, door handles and push bars, light switches and vending machine buttons. General instructions for using disinfecting wipes include:
- Removing visible dirt with one wipe and discarding
- Using another wipe to fully wet the surface, working from clean to dirty areas
- Using additional wipes as needed to keep the surface wet for the contact time specified on the label
- Disposing of used wipe(s) in trash
- Washing hands thoroughly or using hand sanitizer
Please contact Physical Plant at (518) 629-7356 if you need more wipes or sanitizer in an area.
The entire campus community is encouraged to continue conducting meetings remotely, limit gatherings to no more than 10 people and to practice social distancing by keeping at least six feet from others.
If you feel sick or think you may have been exposed to COVID-19, please stay home and refer to the Information for Students and Employees section of the HVCC COVID-19 webpage.
Additional information on how to protect ourselves can be found on the CDC COVID-19 website.
