Counseling and Wellness Services: 12th Annual Race Away Stigma 5k Run/Walk is Saturday, Oct. 23

Start your Homecoming Weekend with Counseling and Wellness Services’
Race Away Stigma 5k Run/Walk on Saturday October 23rd.

Mental health issues will affect more than one in every five Americans this year. The college years, are the most common ages for mental health concerns to arise. Depression, anxiety and other serious mental health concerns are increasingly common among college and university students in the United States.

We recognize that the negative stigma associated with mental health concerns can be what stops many students from seeking the help that they truly need. Stigma must, and can be exposed and overcome. We have combined this outreach with the physical activity of a 5K Race to literally RACE AWAY STIGMA surrounding mental health concerns, both in our local community and nationwide.

We hope that you will consider joining us Saturday October 23rd to kick start your homecoming weekend and help us to “Race Away” the stigma surrounding mental health.

Click here to register online, or print and mail the registration form. Participants also may register in-person at Counseling Services (CTR 260) or on race day, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The race starts at 10 a.m. at the Student Pavilion in front of Hudson Hall. Awards will be announced at 11 a.m.
