Friday Flex For Your Mental Health

Exercise not only improves your physical health, but it can have amazing benefits for our mental health. According to HelpGuide.org, exercise can assist us in managing our depression, anxiety, stress, ADHD, PTSD and trauma, more effectively, in many different ways. It can even improve our resiliency, result in better sleep, foster a higher sense of self-esteem, lead to feeling more energized, and increase our focus and memory. For the full article click here.

Each week, Counseling and Wellness Services, will provide a post with information about ways to move your mental health. Resources and videos are from various YouTube exercise channels and the John W. Brick Mental Health Foundation, whose purpose is to “Integrate salutogenic approaches, such as exercise, nutrition and mind-body practices, into treating mental illness and promoting mental wellness.”

Week 8: As founder and director of The Center for Transformative Movement in Boulder, Colorado, Lisa fuses her passion for music, dancing and the importance of connection with both academic research and raising public awareness about the many physical, emotional and transcendent health benefits that naturally come from simply moving our bodies to music that lights us up. Lisa is also a versatile, inspiring public speaker and what really thrills her and gives her the most meaningful satisfaction in her work, is to hear from people exactly how those benefits that are felt deeply on the dance floor, and even more importantly make a meaningful difference in all other areas of a people’s lives – like relationships, career, parenting self-care, and in their overall wellbeing.
