Welcome to the Spring 2023 semester!
The college continues to monitor and respond to COVID-19, so please take note of just a few reminders as we begin the term.
Symptoms and Exposure
Please check the COVID-19 Info webpage for “Guidance for COVID-19 Symptoms and Exposure.”
- If you have COVID-19 symptoms or have tested positive, regardless of vaccination status, stay home and call the Health Services Office at (518) 629-7468.
- Students should contact their instructors if they must be absent from class.
- Employees must contact Human Resources and their supervisor if they must be absent from work.
Note: HVCC employees must provide documentation of positive test results in order to qualify for COVID-19 leave. Regular sick leave must be documented in Kronos in all other cases.
Vaccination Clinic
The college continues to urge the entire campus community, including faculty and staff, to get vaccinated and boosted. Students taking in-person classes must be vaccinated if not exempt.
- The Rensselaer County Health Department is continuing its weekly vaccine and booster clinic Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center.
Guidance and Communication
- The college follows the current CDC guidelines and remains in communication with the Rensselaer County Department of Health for additional and local guidance.
- The college also follows SUNY guidelines and participates in the monthly SUNY Safety Monitors meeting to keep our campus community apprised of all COVID-19 policies and updates at the state system level.
- The HVCC COVID-19 Task Force continues to meet monthly, with the next meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
- Campus Supplies and Test Kits
— Classroom, offices and common areas are provided with hand sanitizer and masks. Additional supplies are available to students and employees at college Health Services, located in the Siek Campus Center, suite 270.
— COVID-19 “at-home” antigen tests are also available at the Health Services Office at no cost to students or employees.
