The Historical Society of the New York Courts is launching the 2016 Dav id A. Garfinkel essay contest, with new tools for students, and more prize money!
- The procedure has been simplified and incorporated into an extraordinary web-based interactive writing and resource site. Submissions are accepted now through the April 1, 2016 deadline.
- There will be six prizes, three for CUNY and three for SUNY.
Hudson Valley Community College Human Services student Melanie Hecker received the distinction of Honorable Mention last year, with her essay, “LGBT: The Road to Equality — How have the New York Courts addressed equal Human Rights for the LGBT Community?”
Interested students are strongly encouraged to be mentored by a research librarian, and options for making an appointment, chatting with a librarian or accessing recommended sources are located on the Dwight D. Marvin Library Garfinkel Research Genius.
