All Faculty Association (FA) members planning to run for the following positions must submit the required Candidate Statement and signatures on the following form [Official Nominating Petition_09(2)] by noon on Friday, March 9 to Patty Blacklock, current vice president, in FTZ 319.
All eligible nominees will have an opportunity to address their fellow Faculty Association members on March 12, 2018 according to the agenda of the FA General Membership Meeting being held at 2 p.m. that day in AMZ 110.
The positions up for election are as follows:
FA Vice President (2 year term; 8/2018-8/2020)
POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE VICE-PRESIDENT
- Act for the President when the President is unable to perform the duties of the office;
- Assume the duties of the President in the absence or upon the direction of the President;
- Assist the President in the performance of additional duties as directed by the Executive Board;
- Serve as member ex-officio on all committees authorized, except the Nominating Committee;
- Review Association policies and recommend priorities to be considered to the Executive Board;
- Submit and confirm General Membership Meeting dates on the official Academic Calendar;
- Delegate duties to the officers and committees of the Association;
- Coordinate elections and the Elections Committee;
- In cooperation with the Secretary, be responsible for the maintenance of a current membership list;
- Attend all labor/management meetings;
- Assist the President with all grievances.
FA Treasurer (2 year term; 8/2018-8/2020)
POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE TREASURER
- Receive all funds and be responsible for their safekeeping and accounting;
- Maintain records of all revenues and expenditures of the Association;
- Upon direction of the Executive Board, shall disperse with the co-signature of any two (2) of the following officers: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, shall disperse funds as required for the conduct of Faculty Association business;
- Recommend an independent auditing agency to conduct an annual audit of all Association funds;
- Monitor the performance of the Association’s investment funds held by the Association’s designated investment agent;
- Report, at least once a month, to the Executive Board on the performance of the managed Association funds.
Three (3) Delegate-at-Large positions (2 year terms; 8/2018-8/2020)
POWERS & DUTIES OF THE FA DELEGATES-AT-LARGE
- Represent membership-at-large;
- Bring issues from the membership to the Executive Board;
- Accept other duties as assigned by the Executive Board.
