The Teacher Preparation’s Department’s Diane Teutschman is the recipient of the “Everyday Heroes, Everyday Dreams” award given out by Wildwood School.
Diane has worked with Wildwood programs part time for more than 10 years, serving as a direct support professional in group homes, and teaching adult education classes such as dance, Zumba. ASL, book clubs and personal finance. She was nominated for this award, which will enable her to select an individual to work on community integration goals, and together, make dreams come true. For her year-long project, Diane has chosen to work with a 37-year-old Down Syndrome friend who has been learning to read with her. Diane is assisting in her dream of obtaining her GED. Together they will participate in a GED preparation course and study for the exam over the next nine months.
