The New York State Department of Health has instructed Rensselaer County to conduct a Medical Countermeasures Point of Dispensing Exercise (MCM POD).
As one of the Primary Dispensing sites, Hudson Valley Community College, specifically the McDonough Sports Complex, is the site for the exercise on Friday, May 1 from 9:30 to 11:30 a,m. It will take approximately one half hour of your time if you can participate during these hours.
The objective of an MCM POD exercise is to drill the local health department staff on the protocols involved in dispensing medical regimens (medications) that would be used to treat a public health emergency such as an influenza or disease outbreak or a bio-terror attack. They are looking for a good number of civic minded volunteers to attend the exercise/drill as participants/role players walking through the event receiving the “mock medical regimens.”
