Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead in Maureen Stapleton Theatre Thursday, Friday and Saturday

The Theatre Arts program and Theatre Club will present “Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday (April 23-25) in the Maureen Stapleton Theatre, located in the Siek Campus Center.

First performed in August 2004, “Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead” was written by Bert V. Royal and is an “unauthorized parody.” that imagines characters from the popular comic strip Peanuts as teenagers.

The play is a frank, comic, and also poignant interpretation of the Charles Shulz’s Peanuts gang, who’ve grown into young adults. The play begins with the death of CB’s beloved dog and CB questioning the existence of an afterlife, and continues as an arresting look at teenage rebellion, self-awareness, drug use, violence, and sexual identity. The ending of the play is both haunting and hopeful. Because of explicit language and mature content, the play is not appropriate for anyone under the age of 14. The play runs approximately one hour and twenty minutes and there will not be an intermission.

Admission is free for all Hudson Valley Community College with a valid student ID. All other students are $5 with a valid student ID. General admission is $10.
