EOC earns finalist recognition in PRSA Empire Awards

The Capital District Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) has earned finalist recognition for its submission earlier this year to the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) Empire Awards. The Capital Region Chapter of PRSA created the Empire Awards competition in 2008 to celebrate and commemorate the triumphs of the programs, projects and people that strengthen, promote and sharpen the public relations profession.

In her role as coordinator of institutional advancement at the EOC, Katie Bradley submitted an entry packet to PRSA.

The EOC entry was submitted in the category of “integrated campaign,” which awards campaign programs that “employ the creative and effective integration and leadership of public relations strategies and tactics with other promotional marketing communications… and demonstrate the integration of strategies, plus the budget and measurement of return on investment of the communications to any stakeholder group, including employees, consumers, the media or shareholders.” The EOC entry focused on the campaign — “EOC is on the move” — used to market the center’s move to its new facility.

The PRSA will hold a recognition and award luncheon on Nov. 19.

Additional honorees are Philip Morris, CEO, Proctors, as Outstanding Communicator, and Rob Puglisi, director of communications, The Community Hospice, as Outstanding Practitioner. Other finalists also to be recognized:
— American Heart Association, “So many reasons”
— Corning Place Communications, “Making Equal Pay for Equal Work More than a Slogan”
— Corning Place Communications, “A New ERA for Upstate New York”
— NYS Department of Taxation and Finance, “STAR Registration Campaign to 2.7 Million Homeowners”
— Overit, “Overit gains press coverage to help secure athletic endorsements for local equestrian”
— Overit, “Non-Profit Organization, Center for Internet Security, Partners with Overit to Garner National Awareness and Executive Visibility”
—  Pierce Communications/Albany Diocesan Cemeteries, “Introducing the Remembrance Garden at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery”

My thanks and appreciation are extended to Katie Bradley along with Dennis Kennedy,, executive director of Communications and Marketing, and John Heiser, director of Graphics and Printing Services, for their great work in constructing the “EOC is on the move” campaign and for their joint efforts in submitting the entry packet to PRSA.
