eSports Weekly — Nov. 1, 2021

 

The 2021 eSports season has officially started as the Vikings are competing in eight different games this season with record numbers of participants, doubling from the Spring 2021 semester, which saw the Vikings claim the NJCAAe National Championship in Call of Duty: Duos.

Monday

Call of Duty — Cold War:  The Vikings lost, 3-0, to Navarro College and will now play Central Wyoming College this week.

Rocket League: The Vikings have two teams competing this semester in the Rocket League events.
— Rocket League (Team One): Lost by forfeit last week to Western Technical College, Marion Military Institute.
— Rocket League (Team Green): Lost, 3-0, to Hawkeye Community College. They are scheduled to play Carl Albert State this week.

Wednesday

Super Smash Bros: This is the most popular game among the Vikings eSports program. We have eight individuals competing weekly for a chance to clinch a playoff berth following the 8-week season.

— Tylar M.: Results were not available at publishing.
— Christian M.: Had a bye week. Did not compete.
— Matthew P.: WON 3-0 over Union County College.
— Shane T.: Lost 3-0 to Garden City Community College.
— William M.: Had a bye week. Did not compete.
— Benny W.: WON 3-0 over Heartland Community College.

Hearthstone: We have two students participating in Hearthstone this semester, including Ligori K., who finished the spring 2021 semester as the nation’s top-ranked Hearthstone player.

— Ligori K.: Ligori WON 3-0 over Shelton State last week and is scheduled to play Borough of Manhattan this week.
— Tylar M.: WON 3-1 over Northwest Trappers and is scheduled to play Pennsylvania Highlands this week.

Thursday

Overwatch: The Vikings WON, 3-0, over Harrisburg Area Community College and are scheduled to play Western Technical College this week.

Call of Duty — Gun Fight: There are two teams participating for the Vikings.

–HVCC Team 1: The Vikings team did not compete as they were on a bye week. They are scheduled to play Central Wyoming this week.
–HVCC Team 2: The team also lost by forfeit to Herkimer College last week. They are scheduled for a bye week this week

Friday

Valorant: The Vikings lost, 2-0, to Mott Community College. They are scheduled to take on Fort Scott Community College this week.
