Exciting Opportunity for Fall 2024: ASAP Program – Advancing Success in Associate Pathways at HVCC

We hope your are enjoying your summer thus far! We wanted to share information about the Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP) program. This is a new program at HVCC that is began this past spring. ASAP is a FREE, grant-funded comprehensive student support program, through SUNY, designed to help motivated students stay on track and earn their degrees within two to three years. ASAP students will have a designated ASAP advisor who will provide extensive wraparound support, as well as on- and off-campus referrals, to assist students in achieving academic, personal and professional goals. ASAP students will also benefit from financial supports and career development opportunities each semester.

Below you will find information on ASAP benefits and eligibility requirements to be a part of the program, and the engagement requirements once you are an ASAP student.

As a part of ASAP students receive:

  • Designated ASAP advisor to guide student progress from entry to graduation
  • Blocked courses for ASAP students (Psychology 100 and English 101)
  • An opportunity to build career development competencies
  • Financial support to assist with textbooks, fees and other non-tuition cost of attendance items
  • A monthly stipend provided four times per semester (as long as engagement requirements are satisfied) – Get paid to be an ASAP student! 
  • Connection to a community of fellow ASAP learners and a team dedicated to your success

The eligibility requirements for the ASAP program are:

  • New York State residency
  • Completed and updated 2024/2025 FAFSA and TAP application on file with Financial Aid
  • Be eligible for Pell, but not EOP
  • Be a full-time student (12+ credits)
  • Have 21 or fewer credits earned
  • Have a 2.0 GPA
  • Be an approved degree program (full list available on the ASAP webpage), able to earn your Associate’s Degree in Individual Studies within three years of starting classes.

ASAP Student Requirements: 

  • Attend meetings, two times a month with a dedicated ASAP Advisor to monitor academic and personal goals to stay on track to graduate on time
  • Attend a career development program/activity (one time per semester)
  • Attend a wellness/personal development program/activity (one time per semester)
  • ASAP will also provide opportunities for unique presentations, social gatherings, and programming designed specifically to support our ASAP students in their journey toward academic, professional, and personal success. While these are optional, students are highly encouraged to attend. A calendar of events will be available and updated throughout the semester.
