Storytelling With Sculpture, an exhibition of crafted figures, small models, book covers, wax originals, relief plaques, photos and concept drawings from The Simpsons, Star Trek, Alien, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Darth Maul, Aurra Sing, Shredder, Spiderman, Hulk, Indiana Jones and Spock, is on display through Thursday, June 30 in the Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Atrium of the Marvin Library Learning Commons.
The works are by noted pop-culture collectibles sculptor Patrick Pigott. The artist also created the seven-foot tall bronze statue of Troy’s first mayor, Col. Albert Pawling, now installed in the newly-dedicated Pawling Park. The park is located at Congress Street and Pawling Avenue in Troy. Adam Sanzone, a 2015 graduate of Hudson Valley, led the project to establish the park and commission Pigott to create the statue.
Working from his studio in Halfmoon, Pigott produces licensed character creations for Lucas Films, Dreamworks, Disney, Fox, New Line Cinema and Paramount Studios.
The exhibition is open to the campus community and the public free of charge during regular library hours.
