On Nov. 4, the Mathematics and Engineering Science Department hosted Experience Engineering, an event for high school students that attracted more than 240 attendees — students from approximately 23 high schools and their parents. The event was held in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center.
The evening included displays of engineering projects, information tables, and two panel discussions. The first panel featured three, current Hudson Valley students and two graduates, currently at RPI, who discussed what it was like to be an engineering student. Five practicing engineers – including four Hudson Valley alumni – made up the second panel. Panelists talked about their educational background, current career, and what a typical workday involves. Audience members were able to ask questions at the end of each panel discussion.
Special thanks to Beth Ernest, Don Heckelman, Linda Lim, Alicia Phelan, Jen Nichols, Donna Craver, Carol Campbell and all our student helpers and panelists, Eric Bryant and the Office of Communications and Marketing, the Events Office, Elisa Pruden and the Graphics Department and Print Shop, and Viking Video Technologies.
