Faculty Liaison HV-FAC-1900-Center for Effective Teaching

Applications are being accepted for the following vacancies for the FALL 2019 semester on the Faculty staff of Hudson Valley Community College, 80 Vandenburgh Avenue, Troy, New York.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be currently employed by Hudson Valley Community College as a full-time faculty member (assistant professor, associate professor, or professor) and possess a Master’s Degree in an academic discipline. Experience as a mentor, committee work, and/or other Center for Effective (CET) related areas is required. Effective communication skills with faculty, department chairs, and deans on CET requests, as well as providing CET announcements through various channels are also required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Work with technology related equipment, emerging technology, and instructional resources is preferred.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Faculty Liaison reports to the Dean of Retention and Instructional Support Services and performs the following duties.

• Provides for appropriate faculty and staff professional development activities: explores and facilitates departmental training opportunities, faulty outreach, innovative teaching and learning initiatives, and emerging technologies.

• Coordinates the efforts of the faculty mentors.

• Serve on the Strategic Technology Committee to provide recommendations and input for emerging technologies.

• Serves as a representative of the Open Education Resource (OER) committee.

• Serves on Faculty Workshop Day committee and facilitates the coordination of related programming efforts.

• Campus liaison with SUNY Faculty Development Organizations (such as the Center for Professional Development, ITEC, TC, FACT2 and Faculty Development Advisory Council).

• Chairs committee on New Faculty Orientation and facilitates the coordination or related programming efforts.

• Reviews and recommends appropriate changes for Center for Effective Teaching’ web page, CET portal and CET online faulty resources; including college in the high school faculty and online faculty.

• Reviews and makes appropriate changes for faculty resources on the CET portal (Blackboard) that include updating webinars and videos, software tutorials, and upcoming workshops.

• Evaluates discussion board posts related to CET-related webinars and videos available in the portal.

There is no salary for this position, it is a 3-year appointment, up to 25 hours a week. A reduced load of one to two courses will be given.
