It is time to consider submitting your students’ “A” research papers for the Dr. Joseph J. Bulmer Award for Excellence in Library Research.
A student must be nominated by the faculty member for whom the research assignment was completed, or may self nominate.
Award selection criteria are as follows:
- Extensive bibliography with minimum of five sources and various formats
- Evidence of initiative, persistence, and ingenuity in identifying sources
- Evidence of critical thinking in evaluating sources for credibility and appropriateness
- Correct citation format
- Free of plagiarism; i.e., authentic academic work only (papers may be reviewed using turnitin.com or similar software)
- Grade of “A”
A recipient is chosen every spring, and paper submissions are accepted from the previous summer session, fall semester, and current spring semester. This means if a student completed a research paper for summer session 2016, fall 2016, or spring 2017, it will be reviewed and considered.
The Bulmer Award comes with a monetary sum, recognition at the Student Honors ceremony and commencement, and the recipient’s name on a perpetual plaque in the Dwight Marvin Library Learning Commons. And, it bolsters a college transcript or resume!
