Fall 2020 NYSETA Fall Virtual Conference

The Fall 2020 New York State Engineering and Cybersecurity Technology Association Conference will be a virtual event for faculty in all areas, and will be held on Friday, Oct. 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. via Zoom.

The NYSETA encompasses professional-level professional development for many individuals, not necessarily just engineers. As the conference schedule is being developed on a daily basis, the plenary session is headlined by Dr. Linda Bryant, the director of NTID’s Office of Online Learning, who received her doctorate in Teaching and Curriculum from the University of Rochester. She is passionate about designing and delivering online courses that are robust, cohesive and engaging. In this session, she will describe the importance of interactive learning environments and technologies, effective video production, cumulative assignments, and adhering to accessibility standards and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.

There are also several Zoom sessions to aid and assist faculty in development of robust remote learning platforms. In addition, there are three tracks of presentations that are in development.

The cost of this virtual conference is $20, which also includes your annual membership to NYSETA. There will also be virtual exhibitors that will exhibit education related materials.

NYSETA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of the applied engineering (technology), engineering, and cybersecurity programs. In addition to supporting professional development, income helps fund scholarships that are awarded annually to nominated students across New York State.

I urge many to check out the conference website (https://www.rit.edu/ntid/nyseta/) and to consider joining us. Keep checking the site for more interest group sessions and Zoom meetings to be posted.
