This training will define emotional intelligence and provide you with the necessary skills to improve your emotional intelligence. By improving your emotional intelligence you will be able to manage your emotions in a more effective and adaptive manner in order to improve interpersonal relationships, which will improve work relations, your workplace culture, job satisfaction and reduce conflict

The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion partners with In Our Own Voices, Inc (IOOV) to offer LGBT Cultural Competency, and Anti-Racism and Homophobia Training to HVCC faculty and staff. This interactive training is intended to enhance interpersonal relationships between participants and those with whom they interact and engage with by
- Providing an opportunity to unpack/examine concepts related to sexual orientation, gender identity, race, etc.
- Allowing participants, the opportunity to explore how historical events and implicit bias shape interpersonal relationships and perceptions of race, gender, and sexual orientation.
- Providing participants tools/resources to enhance their ability to identify, interrupt and/or address personal and interpersonal bias; and
- Engaging with participants to develop community-based solutions to create safer spaces for marginalized groups.
