The Center for Effective Teaching (CET) is offering credit for the following workshop that will occur immediately after Spring Break.
Every day, many Hudson Valley Community College faculty and staff experience some aspect of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act. While many faculty and staff have at least a general understanding of FERPA, there are some concerning situations on handling student information.
LeRoy Rooker, former director of the Department of Education’s Family Compliance Office, addresses some of the following questions and concerns about FERPA: defining an education record, parental access to student records, identifying students using electronic mediums, financial aid, student behavior concerns, HIPPA vs. FERPA, and much more.
