Work by Augustine Jones of Malta, who graduated in May 2020 with an Associate in Science Degree in Fine Arts, is included in the Abstract Collection Student Art Exhibit at the SUNY Global Center in New York City. The exhibition, planned to be on view through Feb. 21, 2021, continues in a virtual format with an opening reception on Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. (See invitation below.)
Jones’s work — untitled, oil, ink, and newspaper on canvas, 2019 — can be found on page eight of the exhibition catalog, pages 1-15/catalog, pages 16-30. He is recipient of the 2020 Academic Excellence and Outstanding Service in the Fine Arts Program Award, funded through the college’s Foundation in memory of Renee Capeless.
Jones completed Advanced Study in Drawing and Painting, which is two-semesters of guided study for students who have completed foundation art courses and wish to pursue their own body of work. “The Before, The After and In Between,” an exhibition of work by the 12 artists who undertook the course, can be viewed — along with the Fine Arts End-0f-Year Student Exhibition and “Pulse 5,” work by Digital Media students — in virtual galleries on the college’s website through Aug. 31, 2020.
