Fine Arts professors’ photographs included in NYC exhibition

Photographic works by Professors Tara Fracalossi and Thomas Lail, members of the Fine Arts, Theatre Arts and Digital Media Department, are included in “A Portrait of Barbara Ess,” organized by Adam Marnie and F magazine. They also are included in the exhibition:  “Barbara Ess: Archives” at White Columns. The gallery, located at 91 Horatio St., is New New York City’s oldest alternative, non-profit art space. The exhibition is n view Sept. through Oct. 21.

Barbara Ess (1944 – 2021) was an American photographer noted for her use of pinhole cameras and other low-fidelity techniques. She was also a central figure in the No Wave music movement in New York in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Ess was an associate professor at Bard college. The Teaching Gallery hosted a survey show of her work in 2011. The Estate of Barbara Ess is represented by Magenta Plains Gallery in New York.
