Former Saint Rose standout added to men’s basketball coaching staff

 

The Hudson Valley Community College basketball program has added Phil Sellers as an assistant basketball coach, under Mike Long, newly hired head men’s basketball coach.

Sellers played professionally overseas for a number of basketball teams including the NVV Monchengladbach Lions, Noma Iserlohn Kangaroos, SVD Dortmund, USC Freiburg and SG Sechtem. A former standout at Saint Rose, Sellers is the 15th all-time leading scorer with 1,279 points, despite playing only 2.5 seasons after transferring from Naugatuck Community College. He is the all-time leader in scoring average with 18.8 points per game and holds the school record for single-season scoring average with 20.3 points per game. In his final year at Saint Rose, Sellers earned NE-10 First-Team All-Conference and Daktronics All-Region honors.

Mostly recently, Sellers has worked as a coach/counselor at the Brian Beaury Basketball Camps for the past 10 years.
