Foundation Friday: transformational gift for Construction and Civil Engineering programs

On May 16, a Construction Materials Lab in Hudson Hall will be dedicated to Callanan Industries, Inc. in recognition of its gift of nearly $50,000 in cash and equipment to the Construction and Civil Engineering programs.

Since 1995, Callanan Industries have been a loyal corporate supporter of the college, contributing to scholarship funds and various fundraising events, and donating materials to the construction program. This generous donation will allow students in the construction materials class who are being trained in material testing procedures to follow the ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials) industry standards. Prior to this gift, students and faculty had to go off-site to either the New York State Department of Transportation or Callanan laboratories to perform these tests. With this donation, all testing can now be done on site.

The college also will recognize a donation of $10,000 from Chris Madden, parent of alumna Katie Madden, to help pay for upgrades to the ventilation system in the lab, without which we could not use the new equipment.
