Foundation Fridays are back!

We hope that all the students, faculty, and staff in our community had a restful summer! It has been a busy summer for us here in the Foundation office. Some of our highlights include:

  • The Foundation contributed $695,544.37 to the college between September 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014

– $457,808.97 to support academic programs, including $88,381.42 for the School of Engineering and Industrial Technologies, $245,703.80 for the School of Health Sciences and $122,573.75 for the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences — primarily for construction of the Science Center Greenhouse.

– $217,410.43 to support scholarships, including $5,050 for departmental awards, $65,000 for the  HonorScholar program and $26,000 for the Second Chance Scholarship program.

– $20,324.97 to support the Marvin Library Learning Commons and other student-centered initiatives.

  • Held the 20th annual U.W. Marx Golf Classic; all net proceeds from this major event fund the honor’s scholar program
  • Alumni and Foundation Night at the ValleyCats brought over 100 alumni, friends, and supporters of the college together for a fun evening of baseball
  • Several community foundations visited our campus to learn about the programs that need their help to fund
  • We celebrated with past retirees and newly retired members of the Hudson Valley Community College family at our annual Retiree Luncheon (sponsored by alumnus Steve Bouche ’78 and Kevin Johnson ’74)

We are now looking forward to a successful 2014-2015 academic year filled with activities that capitalize on the philanthropic efforts of our community. We will continue to work with those who wish to see our students succeed in this incredible learning environment. Stay tuned for another year of Foundation Friday and best wishes for a happy and healthy semester!

Sincerely,

Ray, Geoff, Kim, and Lisa
