Schenectady artist Fran Giordano, who works as a technical assistant in the registrar’s office at Hudson Valley Community College, is working on a mural that features “Frog and Toad” and spans an exterior wall of the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corp. at 143 State St.
The project celebrates Arnold Lobel (1933-1987), an award-winning children’s book author and illustrator who grew up in Schenectady. A public art project featuring Lobel’s work was a longtime goal of Betsy Sandberg, chair of the Kids Art Festival and a board member of the ElectriCity Arts and Entertainment District, who sought grant funding for the mural. Giordano often contributes her talents to the Kids Art Festival.
