Friends of Oakwood Cemetery offer Celtic Crosses tour on Saturday, July 13

 

All are welcome to join local historian Michael Barrett on Saturday, July 13 at 9 a.m. as he leads a three-hour driving and walking tour to see some of the beautiful examples of Celtic monuments in the historic Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.

Barrett will talk about the history and symbolism of the monuments, as well as share stories about the Irish immigrants memorialized by them. The tour is hosted by the Friends of Oakwood Cemetery.

Please register by calling (518) 328-0090. and pay upon arrival, $15 per person. Children under 12 are free. Participants will meet at the Earl Memorial Chapel flag pole at the Oakwood Avenue entrance to the cemetery. (Check Facebook for updates if weather is a concern: oakwood cemetery troy ny.)
