Friends of Oakwood debut new tour on Saturday, July 21

The Friends of Oakwood will introduce a new, grave site tour, “Wild Women of Oakwood,” on Saturday, July 21 beginning at 9 a.m. The Friends also will offer tours of the Gardner Earl Chapter on Tuesdays in August.

Rensselaer County Historian Kathy Sheehan will lead the new tour to the grave sites of some women who were movers and shakers in times gone by — suffragists, philanthropists, even a clairvoyant physician!

Please call (518) 328-0090 to register for “Wild Women of Oakwood” and pay upon arrival — $15 per person; children under 12 are free. The group will assemble at the flagpole near the Earl Chapel at the Oakwood Avenue entrance to the cemetery.

The Gardner Earl Chapel, a National Historic Landmark, will be open for tours every Tuesday in August at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. for $8 per person. Children under 12 are free. No registration required. Groups of eight or more are asked to call (518) 221-7941 for scheduling purposes.
