Friends of Oakwood host annual Evening at the Earl on Thursday, Oct. 3

 

The 18th annual Evening at the Earl fundraiser will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the historical Gardner Earl Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery. The chapel is located at the Oakwood Avenue entrance to the cemetery.

The event will feature catered food and drinks and fun for all! The Friends of Oakwood will offer a Silent Auction of themed baskets, including chocolate, pets, wine, beginning your family tree, relaxation and more. Proceeds from the event will benefit the conservation and restoration of the Tiffany windows at this National Historic Landmark.

Local business and industry leaders will be honored as 2019 Individuals of Excellence: Kevin Mullen of Rare Form Brewing Company; Kathleen Tesnakis, founder of Ekologic; Tom Nardacci of Troy Innovation Garage; John Hughes, owner of the Gardner Farm Inn B & B;  Cory Nelson of Troy Kitchen, and Chun Hee Kim and Sun Hwa Choi, founders of Sun Hee’s Farm and Kitchen. Each honoree will be paried with a a 19th century counterpart to celebrate “Troy’s Entrepreneurial Spirit, Then and Now.”

The Friends of Oakwood is a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer group working to support the preservation and maintenance of the non-sectarian chapel and grounds of Troy’s still-active historic 19th century Oakwood Cemetery.
