Nathaniel Hawthorne: The Haunted Mind
On Tuesday, July 2 at 7 p.m., the Friends of Oakwood Cemetery welcome back literary historian Rob Velella, who will present Nathaniel Hawthorne: The Haunted Mind.
Dressed as the 19th-century author and taking on his persona, Velella will read some of the reclusive writer’s shorter works and answer questions. Velella’s previous performances for the Friends of Oakwood as Edgar Allan Poe have sold out.
The program will take place in the Earl Chapel at the Oakwood Avenue (Route 40) entrance to Oakwood Cemetery.
Seating is limited! Reservations ($15 per person) must be paid in advance. Call (518) 238-0090. Leave your name, phone, and number of tickets. (If you are paying by credit card someone will call you for that information; do not leave your credit card number in your message.) You can also drop off a check, payable to the Friends of Oakwood, at the cemetery office located at 50 101st Street, Troy.
The Friends of Oakwood is a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer group that supports the preservation of this non-sectarian, still-active 19th-century cemetery. New members are always welcome. Contact oakwoodcemeterytroyny@gmail.com for more information.
