GO GREEN!

A CFL (compact fluorescent lamp) uses 75 percent less energy than its traditional incandescent counterpart.

However, due to a mercury content – low energy though it may be – used CFLs must be recycled rather placed in the trash. Fortunately, in this area, both Home Depot and True Value Hardware stores accept and recycle CFLs from the public. Just drop them off at the customer service department at either store.

Send green comments, suggestions or questions to gogreen@hvcc.edu.

So you’ve made the switch to CFLs.
