Happy retirement to James LaBate!

James LaBate is retiring on June 2 after many years of dedicated service.

Jim has been teaching at Hudson Valley Community College for over 30 years, with over 20 of them as a full-time writing specialist in The Writing and Research Center. He also has been an active member of the college community through the years.

Jim’s been involved in the Student Christian Association, most recently as the club’s faculty advisor, and he wrote a column called “The Writer’s Bloc” for The Hudsonian in the past. He also served on a number of committees and was a Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching recipient in 2019.

I want to take a moment to thank Jim for sharing his passion for writing and teaching with all of us through the years, and to wish him a great retirement. Though we are so happy for Jim, he will be greatly missed!
