Help us celebrate National Distance Learning Week!

The week of Nov. 4 – 8 is National Distance Learning Week, and the Center for Distance and Online Learning will be celebrating the occasion by offering all week a series of short, 30-minute overviews of exciting new Blackboard tools and resources that are now available for faculty to take advantage of!

SoftChalk Monday will feature overviews of SoftChalk, a web-based tool that DL staff will use to create a variety of engaging interactive presentations and scored activities that students can access directly through their Blackboard courses, and that faculty can have custom-made on request.

TechSmith Relay Tuesday will feature overviews of TechSmith Relay, another web-based tool, which faculty can use to create dynamic, interactive instructional videos in their Blackboard courses.

In turn, the overviews on ALLY Wednesday and Friday will introduce faculty to ALLY, a Blackboard plugin that can be your best “ally” in ensuring that your Blackboard course content is accessible and ADA-compliant.

The overviews on OSCQR Thursday will focus, finally, on the OSCQR (Open SUNY Course Quality Review) Rubric, which provides a matrix that faculty can follow as a guide to meeting the standards for online course design established by Open SUNY.

As icing on the cake, there will be a drawing on Friday for cool bags of “mystery swag.” Faculty will receive a drawing ticket for each overview session they attend, and there will be three lucky winners!

Below is a schedule of the overviews that the DL Office has planned for National Distance Learning Week. All sessions will be held in BTC 1033.
