Highlights of the Northeast Regional Honors Council Conference

The 2025 Northeast Regional Honors Council Conference held in Harrisburg, PA, March 27 through March 30, brought together Honors administrators, faculty, staff and students from both two-year and four-year institutions. The theme of the conference, “Civic Engagement at the Crossroads” explored how many voices and visions can come together and create conversation, change, and new ways forward.  Through various workshops and themed sessions, attendees had the opportunity to engage and learn about the principles and dynamics of the Honors community.

Two HVCC students attended, Emily Burdikoff and Emmett Perkinson, and enjoyed meeting other Honors students, networking with Honors staff, and engaging in learning sessions. They also participated in an NRHC service project making “no-sew” blankets with other conference attendees. These blankets were then donated to a local charity, Operation Warm Hearts. Emily presented her creative work at the Student Art Gallery Showcase, highlighting her experience as a Digital Media student. Emmett, a Physics major, presented his scientific research at the Student Poster Session. He also WON the NRHC Outstanding Poster Competition!
