hosts a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

The event will feature guest and student speakers, salsa lessons with a
professional instructor, great food plus giveaways.
It will be a fun celebration of Hispanic Heritage and we hope to see you there!
Pedro Perez
Keynote Speaker
Perez is the executive director of the Albany YMCA. He serves as a community leader building collaborations based on trust and credibility to advance the Y’s mission and goals. He is an integral part of the Albany Promise — Cradle to Career initiative, a national initiative called Strive, which focuses on ensuring children are ready to succeed in college and careers by engaging parents and educators in the development of appropriate instructional programs.
As the first Latino commissioned officer the NYS Police, Perez became the agency’s highest ranking Latino commissioned officer when he was appointed to the position of First Deputy Superintendent holding the rank of Brigadier General. As such, he was second in command of the NYS Police while managing a budget of more than half a billion dollars and more than 5,000 employees.
Perez holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Marist College and a bachelor of science degree from Empire State College. In his free time, he is a percussionist and band leader with the Mambodragonarts, an Afro-Caribbean jazz ensemble. He also is a martial arts Shihan (master instructor) and Renshi (senior expert teacher).
