Honors College, PTK and Psychology Club students help make Friendsgiving amazing at Albany International School

HVCC students and primary school students do crafts togetherIt takes a village!

Students from the Honors College, PTK and the Psychology Club at HVCC volunteered their time at the Albany International School/ Dual Language Program to make a Memorable Friendsgiving!

The Albany International School is a newcomer school. They work with students who have recently arrived in the United States, providing specialized instruction in English, as well as support for learning a whole new culture.

In this context, Friendsgiving is especially meaningful. For many students and their families, it is their first Thanksgiving celebration in the U.S.

HVCC volunteers made a difference, from set-up to clean-up, crafting with kids and serving food. I am thankful for the students’ involvement and hope to see them all again next year!

I am often asked what makes someone a refugee and how they come to be in the U.S. This video is a great starting point for answering that question.
