Honors College students support Kraken Down on Cancer event

Over the summer, Abigale Dunlavey, a second-year Honors College student in the Humanities and Social Science program, met an individual at her work handing out flyers for an important cause. The flyer was for the Kraken Down on Cancer event to help raise funds for Tadd Benoit who is bravely fighting Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Abigale contacted the person organizing the event, Shauna, Tadd’s sister, to ask her how the Honors College students could help. Shauna graciously welcomed the students at the event, held at the Schodack Landing Firehouse on September 28. The students helped out with various activities including face painting, bouncy house, parking and clean up. Live music by Scarlett Duo and a delicious barbecue made the event even more enjoyable. It was truly heartwarming to see the extraordinary community support for Tadd and his family!

A very special thank you to Abigale for making us a part of this special event! Her compassionate and altruistic nature is truly inspiring.
