More than 30 seventh and eighth grade students from the AVID School in Hudson, NY, visited campus March 28 for a tour of the engineering and architecture department, and the applied technologies department. The students and staff from AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) were excited to see students at work in many of our academic programs, and were able to enjoy a hands-on-experience.
The visit was one of Student Affairs’ College and Career Exploration Projects that are specifically designed to introduce area K-12 students to the abundant academic programs and career opportunities offered at HVCC.
The initiative recognizes the importance of introducing K-12 students to higher education opportunities as early as possible. Kelly Bunkley, assistant to VP for Student Affairs Louis Coplin, coordinates of the project. For more information, please call (518) 629-7307.
Special thanks to Selissa Dukes, the Admissions Office’s technical assistant, for facilitating this tour, and Department Chairs Joe Dana, Engineering & Architecture, and Chris McNally, Applied Technologies, for offering academic and career information from their respective areas.
