The HVCC Biology Club was invited by the Guilderland Public Library to host an event on March 9 as part of the library’s monthly series to promote STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Math) to children in elementary school.
Biology Club President Ethan Mash and members,Quyana Thevenin, Meaghan Morrison and Jennifer Moore joined Dr. Jaya Dasgupta and Dr. Sujatha Kadaba at the event. The team conducted two hands-on activities including make your own candy DNA and make your own Terrarium. The pupils looked at several live microbes such as protozoans, fungi and diatoms under the microscope as well.
All of us were impressed by the curiosity of these young kids and their zeal to learn more. Overall, it was a great opportunity for HVCC Biology Club members to share their knowledge of Biology and promote STEAM to these young minds.
